Rocks are something humans take for granted, but if we look closely we can see their beauty and variety. Rocks are made up of minerals. A mineral is a natural substance that isn't a plant or animal. Due to the different minerals, rocks can be different colors and hardness. Some rocks contain useful minerals, such as iron, lead, gold, copper, and other valuable substances. If a rock has minerals that make money, it is called an ore. Some rocks are beautiful. Some rocks such as pyrite and amethyst. Different minerals in rocks make up gem stones such as rubies, sapphire's, and emeralds. The next time you toss a stone or kick a rock, look closely because it may have something valuable inside!!!
